Terengganu is renowned for its lovely resort islands and its impressive coastline of over 244 kilometers, as well as Tasik Kenyir, which is called Southeast Asia's largest man-made lake.

However, another draw is little known to the outsiders in Terengganu which is the  La Hot Springs in Kampung La located at Hulu Besut.

This natural wonder is about 125 km from the town of Kuala Terengganu and 28 km from the nearest town, Jerteh, and its beauty is sure to make tourists unforgettable.

The truth is, this ‘hidden gem’ is actually quite popular among the people of Terengganu and Kelantan to spend time with family and friends or to bathe in the hot water which is said to have healing properties.

Mohd Rashdan Muda, Chairman of the Besut District Council (MDB),  said that the council had requested the Ministry of Housing and of the Local Government to allocate the almost RM859,000 to improve the facilities at the area.

“The purpose is for repair and upgrading works of the facilities affected by floods as well as to improve the lighting aspect for the convenience of visitors who came at night.

“Recently, we have received an allocation of RM30,000 from the state government to repair the public toilets and we also have a plan to increase the number of chalets with a more attractive design to attract visitors,” he said.

Mohd Rashdan said that the MDB continues to promote the Besut district, which boasts natural beauty and is both favored by local and foreign tourists.
