SELANGOR:

The Industrial Development division at Tourism Selangor is organising a pitch competition on Selangor’s Domestic Tourism Recovery Plan. The Recovery Plan is set to foster domestic tourism in Selangor via effective approaches based on the new norms or through initiatives geared towards bracing the global pandemic. The pitch should also focus on one of these three categories; “Creative and Innovative Tourism”, “Sustainable Tourism” or “Tourism Digitalization”

Well-organized preparations and planning are crucial in determining the direction of the industry as the pandemic is expected to sail its way through to 2022, or until at least 80% of the Malaysian population has been vaccinated.

The pitch competition also paves the way for tourism industry players and the general public to come up with ideas on sustaining the industry, especially in Selangor. The pitch which can either be presented in Bahasa Malaysia or English should also cover the aspect of recovering tourists’ trust to travel to Selangor; making the State a premier and preferred travel destination in Malaysia.

The competition which commenced on June 14th and ends July 31st aims to attract at least 50 pitches from the members of the public, industry players, Non-Profit Organizations (NGOs), Associations, higher institutions, registered tourist guides and Selangor Community Hosts. 30 proposal pitches will be short-listed for in August; and in September, 20 of these proposal pitches will secure their winning prizes as either one of the 10 main prizes’ winners or the consolation prizes’ winners.

Tourism Selangor is offering 20 winning prizes amounting to RM 150,000 worth of Project Grants. 10 main winners will walk-away with Project Grants amounting to RM 10,000 each, and 10 consolation prizes’ winners will take home a RM 5,000 worth of Project Grant each. Winners will also get the opportunity to present their Projects during Tourism Selangor Global Convention 2021 which will be organised in November.
