Over 10 million medical tourists visited Malaysia in the last decade for various treatments including emergency care and wellness screenings.
Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) president Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh said this shows the country’s strength as a trusted healthcare travel spot and a preferred location for personalised healthcare solutions.
“This important accomplishment is a testament to the healthcare sector’s steadfast dedication, the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council’s (MHTC) cooperative efforts and the commitment of the private hospitals represented by APHM.
“The government organisation in charge of coordinating and implementing healthcare travel activities is MHTC and private hospitals throughout the nation are represented by APHM,” he said in his speech during the launch of APHM International Healthcare Conference and Exhibition 2023.
Dr Kuljit added that APHM and MHTC will team up to boost medical tourism in Malaysia, using top-notch facilities, staff and affordable treatments.
The collaboration strengthens healthcare travel through knowledge exchange, capacity building and marketing which will attracts more patients and solidifies Malaysia’s position as a premier destination for medical care.
“By utilising these synergies and investigating fresh ideas, we hope to improve Malaysia’s healthcare travel ecosystem going forward.
“This will help patients, hospitals and the nation’s economy as a whole and will further Malaysia’s reputation as a reliable and highly sought-after location for healthcare travellers worldwide,” he said.
