MALAYSIA:

Malaysia’s Edu+ programme aims to boost edutourism by offering short-term educational courses for international students, promoting cultural exchange and global learning.

Tourism Malaysia, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, has officially introduced the eagerly awaited Edu+ programme, aimed at boosting the edutourism sector in Malaysia.

This initiative focuses on students, particularly those under 16 years old with tourist visas, allowing them to participate in short-term educational courses while enjoying a vacation in Malaysia. Partnering with the National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI), an experienced organisation with over 36 years of expertise, Edu+ exemplifies the strong collaboration between the tourism and education sectors to offer distinctive learning experiences.

The programme’s initial phase targets the Japanese market, with plans to expand to other countries like Korea, China, Russia, and Vietnam. Edu+ aims to foster cultural exchange, enhance education, and drive tourism growth between Malaysia and these nations.

The programme offers a well-rounded approach to learning English in Malaysian educational institutions, including diverse components such as cultural and heritage experiences, collaborations with local schools, homestay programmes, sports tourism, eco and nature-focused activities, and Sustainable Development Goals initiatives. So far, 19 private educational institutions and eight travel agencies have committed to creating tailored Edu+ packages.
