The Kelantan chapter of The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture focuses on plans to develop three areas to allow Community Based Tourism (CBT) more tourists to the State.

The three sites were Kota Pengkalan Datu, Kota Bharu, Kampung Jelawang Homestay in Jeli and Rumah Inap Renok Baru, at Gua Musang, Its director, Mohd Aidil Afizie Daud said.

“Currently, we are upgrading the Kota Pangkalan Datu area emphasizing the Cerana Villa Resort because this location has a good tourism community network that is suitable for the CBT concept.

“Under the CBT segment, all product and service providers are gathered in one place to serve domestic and international tourists,” he said after the reopening of the Pengkalan Datu floating market and tourism farmer’s market here.

The activities in Pengkalan Datu related to the community include river cruising, collecting loan fish (a type of shellfish), and fishing experience in the Kampung Pulau Gajah.

Mohd Aidil Afizie said that in Kelantan, the only Min House Camp that was awarded the ASEAN CBT standard would be to increase the efforts and innovative tourists in the state.

According to the ASEAN tourism standard, CBT is a form of tourism aimed at empowering communities to manage growth in tourism and achieve community well-being aspirations, including sustainable economic, social, and environmental development.
