KELANTAN:

Amid COVID-19 several locations among local tourists are being upgraded by the Kelantan government.

State Community Unity, Culture, Heritage, and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Md Anizam Abdul Rahman said the works include constructing proper roads and additional facilities at places such as Lata Renok, Lata Janggut, and Gunung Stong  in Kuala Krai and Jeli.

This he said during the State meeting at Kota Darulnaim in response to Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (Yesterday, Lanas-Bersatu).

Anizam said that all district officers are registered with tourism projects that also implement chartered buses to transport tourists to 17 of Kelantan's popular destinations including the Pantai Mek Mas, Datu Floating Market Pengkalan, and Pantai Senok (Pulau Nami).

"Tour agencies are also intensifying efforts to promote kite flying and making, batik printing and other traditional cultural activities,” he said.

The assembly also announced that the government had applied to construct new sports facilities at the Bukit Merbau stadium at Pasir Puteh for RM 359,8 million from the Federal government under the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP).

Chairman Wan Roslan Wano Hamat said that the allocation was intended to construct the main stadium, two small stadiums, and a multipurpose indoor stadium. The chairman was the state youth, the leisure, and NGO Committee.

"It is also for the construction of a multi-purpose arena, football field, shooting, and archery range, squash and tennis complexes," he said in reply to a question from Saiful Adli Abu Bakar (Salor-PAS).

Wan Roslan said the state government will also develop recreational areas for extreme sport enthusiasts at Jelawang, Bukit Kudung in Jeli.
