KUALA LUMPUR:

Grab has launched regional vaccine access and educational initiative for all stakeholders on its website and has encouraged all travelers, drivers, and delivery partners to receive vaccinations.

In a statement, the e-hailing company stated that in order to promote access to the COVID-19 vaccine and to encourage the vaccination to the stakeholders, Grab commits to subsidize the driver and delivery partner time, cost, and cost of the vaccines.

“We also extending their medical leave protection fund to cover the potential loss of income as a result of side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine for free and covering the cost of vaccinations for all employees and their immediate family members not covered by national vaccination schemes.

“To combat misinformation and boost public confidence in COVID-19 vaccines, Grab will work with Southeast Asian governments and health authorities to publish accurate vaccine and other public health information in Grab app,” said the statement.

Grab will be launching a 'COVID-19 Snap Survey,' which enables governments to collaborate with Grab to make lightning surveys on a broad pool of samples in order to collect real-time vaccine experience data.

“Grab plans to work closely with local governments across the region to offer mobility, communications, and logistics support for national vaccine deployment plans through its ground fleet network and widely used consumer app.

“Our goal is to reach fully vaccinated status for all Grab employees, driver, and delivery partners by end of 2022,” it's said.

Meanwhile, its Group Chief Operational Officer, Russell Cohen said that rolled out vaccines for COVID 19 brings Southeast Asia to recovery, enabling people and companies to function more confidently, driving renewed economic and local activity.
