With a great number of countries placing restrictions on travel to avoid the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic, Malaysian flower lover do not need to fly abroad, because they have to travel to north Perlis to see the rows of beautiful sunflowers.
A view of the Nakawan Range, which is the longest continuous calcareous hill in the state and is a sight to see, is set on the field as the most recent addition in Perlis to the Snake and Reptile Farm.
There are approximately 15 000 sunflowers on the 1,21-hectare slopes of land belonging to the Perlis State Development Corporation (PKENPs). It recorded more than 15,000 domestic and international tourists three months after it was opened in December last year.
PKENP's general manager Norsiake Kassim said that the main group of tourists were teenagers, while the number of visitors to the family dropped after the farm had been reopened on June 10, after the Movement Control Order had ended.
“Most visitors came during weekends on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” he told.
He is, however, hopeful that the number of visitors especially locals will increase again because the local tourism sector will recover in the coming months.
The sunflower field is located at Sungai Batu Pahat, Perlis, and admission fees are RM6 for adults and RM3 for children between five to 12 years old.
